How we score

Every bike gets seven category scores from 0 to 10. The overall editorial score is their weighted average. Weights are public and applied identically to every bike.

Category	Weight	Built from
Performance	20%	Top Speed, Motor Power, Torque
Range & Battery	20%	Battery Capacity, Range, Charge Time
Build Quality	15%	Total Weight, Max Payload, Frame Material, Water Resistance (IP), Warranty
Components	10%	Brakes, Gears
Comfort & Ride	10%	Tires, Suspension
Value	15%	Quality points per unit of price compared with the catalog median (price-aware)
Tech & Features	10%	Display, Throttle, Folding Frame

Numeric specs are scaled between the lowest and highest value in our catalog, so scores stay meaningful as new bikes arrive.
Lower-is-better specs (weight, charge time) are inverted. Text specs such as brakes and suspension use an ordered ranking.
An editor can override a category score. Overridden categories are marked on the bike page.
Visitor ratings are collected separately from readers, never blended into the editorial score, and shown with their vote count.
Scoring version 3. Scores are recalculated automatically when specs, weights or the catalog change.
